THE domestic flat season is rapidly drawing to a close and, with just a handful of pattern races remaining, much of the interest over the coming weeks will focus on various two-year-old maidens and the prospects of their winners making their mark at a high level in 2022.

The incomparable Galileo emerged from a Leopardstown maiden in the final few weeks of the 2000 season while more recently classic winners such as Awtaad and Galileo Chrome have been in action very late in the campaign.
