ALL sale companies like to shout about how some very good racehorses have been found at their lesser sales. But very few sales can boast as many star graduates bought for low prices than Arqana’s October Yearling Sale.

Recent Leopardstown Group 2 winner Jadoomi was bought here for €75,000. Group 1 winner Grand Glory was an €18,000 purchase here and recent Group 2-winning juvenile Wed sold for just €32,000 a year ago.

Other Group 2/Grade 2 winners to have come out of this sale recently include Iresine (€6,000), Skazino (€22,000), Avenue De France (€3,000). Bran (€36,000) and Speak Of The Devil (€62,000).

This year’s October Yearling Sale starts on Monday week, October 17th and runs for five days. There are 781 yearlings catalogued and all of them are eligible for the Arqana series. This consists of four races for two-year-olds that will be run between Deauville and ParisLongchamp from 2023 with a guaranteed minimum prize money of €1.2 million.

Buyers will also have the change to purchase first-crop yearlings by Advertise, Blue Point, Calyx, City Light, Earnshaw, Fas, Inns Of Court, Invincible Army, Land Force, Le Brivido, Magna Grecia, Masar, Phoenix Of Spain, Roman Candle, Soldier’s Call, Study Of Man, Taj Mahal, Ten Sovereigns, Too Darn Hot and Waldgeist.
