PUT The Kettle On is the star attraction at next Thursday’s Goffs UK Aintree Sale. Winner of the Arkle Trophy and Queen Mother Champion Chase, the eight-year-old mare has not sparkled on her three starts this season and the syndicate which owns her have decided to offer her for sale.

Syndicate member John Dermody said: “She has been an absolute legend on the track, giving us days we could never have imagined, making history becoming the first mare to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

“She deserves to be somewhere that can cater for her needs to the highest standards and unfortunately we don’t have those facilities. Hopefully her new owners will allow us visit from time to time.”

The daughter of Stowaway, who was bought for €22,000 at the Land Rover Sale, is one of 24 horses in the initial catalogue for the Aintree Sale, which returns after an enforced two-year absence. Additional entries will be published in the coming days.

The printed catalogue will be available at the sale. Inspections will open from 1pm next Wednesday and all day Thursday, with the sale to be held in the winner’s enclosure after racing.
