NEXT Wednesday’s Goffs August Sale at Doncaster will be the first sale at that venue since the company began a significant branding change.

Visitors to the Doncaster Sales website in recent weeks will have noticed that the red Goffs UK livery is disappearing and being replaced by the dark green branding associated with the Kildare HQ.

A spokesperson for Goffs told The Irish Field the change is being made to emphasise the fact that the one Goffs team are behind all of the group’s 25 sales across 10 locations.

There is always plenty of Irish involvement in the Doncaster sales and that is no different next Wednesday when selling starts at 10am. The 148 horses catalogued mainly consist of horses-in-training and stores, supported by a smaller numbers of NH mares and youngstock.

This year’s renewal will host two partial dispersals from owners Mike and Eileen Newbould and Gigginstown House Stud. The Newbould draft will offer 13 horses which are headed by the talented nine-time winner Third Time Lucki who is in training with Dan Skelton and has won twice at Grade 2 level with novice chase victories at Cheltenham and Doncaster.

Other horses-in-training to be offered as part of their dispersal include the three-time winner West Cork who placed second in the Grade 2 Scottish Champion Hurdle, and William Of York, who has won his last three starts – all over hurdles. The dispersal will also offer two stores and three NH mares, all of which will be offered in foal and with foals at foot.

Gigginstown draft

Always a Doncaster HIT highlight, Gigginstown House will offer a draft of seven horses-in-training featuring Grade 3 winner Highland Charge, who won a Kilbeggan handicap hurdle on his most recent start, and the Grade 2 placed Decimation.

The horses-in-training section also features drafts from Charlie Longsdon, Cormac Doyle, Dan Skelton, David O’Meara, Gavin Cromwell, Gordon Elliott, Iain Jardine, Karl Burke, Kevin Ryan, Margaret Mullins, Matthew Flynn O’Connor, Neil Mulholland, Nicky Henderson, Olly Murphy, Philip Kirby, Richard Hughes, Tom George and Tom Lacey.

Among the sires represented in the store horse section are Diamond Boy, Dartmouth, Doctor Dino, Blue Bresil, Get Away, Golden Horn, Kayf Tara, Masterstroke, Milan, Order Of St George, Passing Glance, Pether’s Moon, Sea The Moon, Telescope and Yeats.
