TATTERSALLS has put together an unbelievable collection of fillies and mares for the December Mares Sale, which starts on Monday.

This year’s innovation is the Sceptre Sessions, which will see just under 100 choice lots offered for sale towards the end of the Monday and Tuesday sessions.

Amongst the stellar cast for these sessions are four-time Group 1 winner Alcohol Free, two-time Group 1 winner Saffron Beach, and the Group 1 winning duo La Petite Coco and Pearls Galore, both trained by Paddy Twomey. Desert Berry, dam of this year’s Derby winner Desert Crown, promises to be another highlight.

Two late entries are the Tony Mullins-trained Princess Zoe and Richard Fahey’s The Platinum Queen, both Group 1 winners in France but over very different distances.

Further star performers include Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet runner-up Rosscarbery, Group 2 winner and Group 1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes placed Insinuendo, Group 2 Sapphire Stakes winning sprinter Mooneista, Group 2 winner Bounce The Blues and the promising Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac runner-up Gan Teorainn.

They are joined by a further 23 group-winning fillies and mares in Tuesday’s Sceptre Session alone.

Completing the line-up of 2022 group race winners are Bottles Of Bubbles, Jumbly, Marbling, Mrs Fitzherbert, Rumbles Of Thunder, Statement, Tranquil Lady and Viareggio.

Some of the best families in the book are represented too. Waldfabel is a Frankel half-sister to exceptional broodmare Walderleche; Flora is a Galileo daughter of Irish Oaks winner and excellent producer Moonstone; Crystal Zvezda is a listed-winning Dubawi half-sister to Crystal Ocean.

Hidden Angel is a Dark Angel half-sister to star three-year-old filly Emily Upjohn from a blue-blooded Aga Khan family, and there are two fillies from Kirsten Rausing’s illustrious Alruccaba and Alpinista family.

Among the proven broodmares on offer are Roger Sez, dam of Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Lezoo, and Luzia, the dam of Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes winner Fonteyn.

Another late entry is the six-year-old mare Nataleena, a half-sister to the Group 1 Champion Stakes winner Bay Bridge.

The winning debutante Lecale’s Approach has been added as a wildcard entry on Monday. The two-year-old daughter of New Approach made an impressive start to her racing career last week with a striking performance in a Dundalk maiden for trainer Natalia Lupini on behalf of Kingsfield Stud.

Several of Britain’s leading studs will offer significant consignments, with the 30 strong draft from Newsells Park Stud including the dispersal of Philippa Cooper’s Normandie Stud.

Godolphin has a strong draft of 72 catalogued, with eye-catchers including dual classic and three-time Group 1 winner Blue Buntin, in foal to Derby winner Masar.

Juddmonte’s draft includes broodmares Atone (an Oasis Dream own-sister to champion mare Midday) and Shielding (a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Viadera), both offered in foal to Frankel.
