BOOK 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale is a sale that many consignors strive to sell at, the company’s acceptance of your animal generally considered a strong endorsement of their commercial appeal.

It has regularly played host to success stories for breeders and pinhookers, as well as reliably producing top-class performers that often push their future siblings into Book 1 territory. This season’s honour roll is no different, with Romantic Warrior the headline act.

An eight-time Group 1 winner in Australia, Hong Kong and most recently Japan, the son of Acclamation was sold by breeder Corduff Stud to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for 300,000gns- a sum well-spent in hindsight, considering his earnings now exceeding £15 million.

Group 1 winners Charyn (250,000gns), Dubai Honour (110,000gns), Economics (160,000gns) and Mill Stream (350,000gns) have flown the Book 2 flag closer to home this year. Those with a smaller budget can also afford to dream, with Peter and Ross Doyle having picked up Irish 2,000 Guineas second and 2,000 Guineas third Haatem there for just 27,000gns.

Last year’s sale has already produced dual group winners Aesterius (60,000gns), Arabie (92,000gns), Hotazhell (70,000gns) and Simmering (70,000gns).
