CROSSHILL, a winner at the Punchestown Festival on his latest start for trainer Jessica Harrington and owner Ronnie Bartlett, was sold at Goffs UK on Thursday for £85,000.
The seven-year-old Sholokhov gelding was purchased by Anthony Bromley of Highflyer Bloodstock on behalf of Australian jumps trainer Aaron Purcell.
Thursday saw the final session of the Spring Horses In Training/Point-to-Point Sale completed with a very impressive clearance rate of 90% over the two days.
The average price paid of £21,511 was down 7% on last year but the median price of £13,000 was up 6%.
The annual Million In Mind dispersal is always a focal point of the Spring Sale and once again produced some of the highlights of the day. The draft was headed by the six-year-old gelding Guerlain De Vaux, who won twice over hurdles last season for trainer Oliver Sherwood.
The horse was knocked down to agent Jerry McGrath and Alistair Ralph for £75,000.
The first lot in the ring this morning was Henry’s Friend, a debut winner over hurdles at Aintree last Friday. His trainer Ben Pauling paid £60,000 to keep him in the yard.
