GOFFS will offer 100 National Hunt foals for sale at the inaugural Goffs British NH Breeders Showcase in Doncaster next Friday, November 3rd.

The two-day format will see a foal show hosted on Thursday from 1pm with the sale to be held the following day from noon. The foal show will offer a total prize pool of £10,000 which will be shared among the top three colts and fillies in each class.

The classes will honour two recently departed and much missed figures of the British breeding world. The colts’ class will honour Richard Aston, who ran Goldford Stud alongside his wife Sally and was greatly respected both as a breeder and consignor who regularly topped the NH foal and NH store sales at Doncaster.

The fillies’ class will honour Robert Chugg of Little Lodge Farm. “Chuggy” operated the Worcestershire stud with his wife Jackie and they too became leading vendors at the NH Foal and NH Store Sales in Doncaster.

Headlining the 100 strong catalogue of NH foals is a colt by Blue Bresil out of the Grade 1 winning mare Stormy Ireland.

Trained by Willie Mullins, Stormy Ireland captured nine victories in her illustrious racing career, headlined by her win in the Grade 1 Irish EBF Mares Champion Hurdle at Punchestown, with other victories including the Grade 2 Exchange Hurdle at Fairyhouse and the Grade 2 Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham.

The catalogue features the progeny of 32 sires including Bangkok, Bathyrhon, Crystal Ocean, Gentlewave, Jack Hobbs, Masterstroke, Milan, Passing Glance, Planteur, Saint Ses Saints, Spanish Moon and Walzertakt.

Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent said: “This Doncaster sale has been introduced following many requests from British breeders for a UK-based NH foal sale before Christmas, and we have worked in conjunction with breeders and the Thoroughbred Breeders Association to introduce this select, premium sale that showcases the best of British NH breeding.”
