DOUGLAS Taylor has decided to offer his very impressive recent point-to-point winner Jet To Monte Carlo for sale at next Thursday’s Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale.

Trained by Nicky Stokes, the four-year-old by Jet Away created a big buzz when he won at Ballynoe on March 23rd.

Taylor famously produced Samcro to win a point-to-point in 2016 and he holds Jet To Monte Carlo in high regard.

Another late addition to the catalogue is Paddy Turley’s filly A Chara. By Gentlewave, she won well at Monksgrange on March 30th.

Colin Bowe has added The Irish Avatar, a four-year-old gelding by Poet's Word who finished second on debut at Dromahane last Sunday. Out of Grade 2 winner Dinaria Des Obeaux, The Irish Avatar was a €100,000 store.

The recent spell of fine weather has helped ensure a strong catalogue for next Thursday’s sale, which takes place after racing.

As of Friday evening, a total of 47 initial entries had been accepted and that number is sure to swell following this weekend’s point-to-points in Ireland and Britain.

The entries include over 20 four-year-olds, who all won or placed on debut, including three impressive winners from last weekend’s point-to-point meetings, two by the exciting young jumps sire Crystal Ocean.

Freshers Week won at Taylorstown for Cormac Doyle’s Monbeg Stables, while Crystal Island, who is out of a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner J’Y Vole, was a winner at Rathcannon, trained by Eamonn Doyle for the Mossy Fen Stables Partnership.

Sunday’s Westmeath meeting at Castletown-Geoghegan saw a smart winning performance by the Walk In The Park four-year-old gelding Myrighthandman, who won the four-year-old maiden for trainer Garrett Murphy, while at Dromahane, the five-year-old Unflinching, a gelding by Montmartre, stood out when breaking his maiden tag by over two lengths on debut for Colin Bowe.

The meeting at Rathcannon was headlined by handler Sam Curling’s stunning hat-trick, and all three winning horses hold sale entries.

Curling kicked off his afternoon with a debut victory for Gowithdflow (by Policy Maker) in the four-year-old mares’ maiden, collected the five-year-old geldings’ maiden with Kazansky, who is a son of Milan, and rounded the winning day off with victory in the five and six-year-olds’ mares’ maiden with debut runner Tantivy Vavoom, a daughter of Order Of St George.

Denis Murphy has entered Gaelic Heather, an Order Of St George four-year-old filly who finished second on debut at the Monksgrange meeting and is out of a half-sister to the two-time Grade 1 chase winner Cooldine.

Kilnew Supreme is a four-year-old by Harzand, who finished second to Crystal Island at Rathcannon on debut.

Malina Road, a five-year-old mare by Malinas, won a mares’ maiden at Liscarroll for handler Michael Griffin and she is an own-sister to Yellow Car, winner of this season’s Grade 2 River Don Hurdle.

Vango Can Go, by Ocovango, is a four-year-old out of the blacktype mare Our Katie and she finished second on debut at Ballyragget for Robert Tector.

British point-to-pointer Kalyso’chance was one of the best buys from this sale last year and there will be interest in Karaka De Thaix, a five-year-old son of Cokoriko, who made a winning debut at Charm Park for jockey-trainer Dale Peters.
