TRANQUILITY Bay was ridden by Joanne Blair to the top spot in the 1.30m six-and seven-year-old Balmoral qualifier on Sunday morning at Cavan Equestrian Centre.

Owned by Richard Bourns, the seven-year-old gelding by Emerald Van’t Ruytershof out of Tullibards Lux Sensational (Lux Z), was bred by John Mulvey and produced a second round clear in a time of 30 seconds to snatch the win in the 21-strong class.

Young rider Jodie Creighton and the six-year-old Glenaguile View (Olympic Lux - Glenaguile Rose) took second place in 30.75.

Blair took third place too, this time aboard another of Richard Bourns’, the seven-year-old Fuerty Hero Brigade (Querlybet Hero x Clover Brigade). The duo stopped the clock at 32.39.

Michelle Lana Hughes and Captain Jackson (Fss Correlli Bravo x Imperial Heights) slotted into fourth in 32.75, while Sean Kavanagh riding Brendan and Pauline Finlay’s six-year-old Castlebridge Logan (Tolan R - Thunder Van De Zuuthoeve) was fifth, and Quintabell (Quintero La Silla - Cruising), ridden by Fergus Reid, was sixth.

Five-year-olds

Riverstown Flamenco Cruise, a gelding by Je T’Aime Flamenco out of Huntingdale, by Cruising, won the five-year-old Balmoral qualifier.

Ridden and owned by Hallie Crowe, he was bred by Vincent Burton. Posting a second round time of 33.52, they took first place ahead of the other seven double clear rounds in the two-phase class.

Steven Holland riding Dolores Hughes’s Smalltown Boy IV (Goodluck VDL x Chacoa) were second in 34.11. Third place went to Derena Picture This (Zirocco Blue VDL x Aldatus Z) in 34.88 with owner Hannah Patterson in the saddle.

Jodie Creighton riding The Conquistador (Carrera VDL x For Pleasure) slotted into fourth, while Edward Widger’s OKE Lulu Star (Luidam x Germus R), ridden by Barbara Allen, was fifth.

Junior rider Anna White and Quality Ragwort (O.B.O.S. Quality 004 - Milan) finished in sixth.
