MAURICE Cousins’ home-bred gelding Clarified, by Dignified Van’t Zorgviet out of Barnadown Looks (Lux Z), came out on top in the Horse Sport Ireland four-year-old development series final last Saturday at Cavan Equestrian Centre from a huge startlist of 58.

Ridden by Sophie Richards, he scored a total of 95 points from judges Ian Fearon and Ethen Ahearne to take first place from a strong field of 58 starters.

Runner-up went to another home-bred, Ann Moloney’s Twain Flight (Luidam x Mark Twain), who was ridden by Eddie Moloney to a a score of 91.

Shane Treanor guided Linda Courtney’s LCC Monte Karlo (Casallco x VDL Arkansas) to third on a score of 90.

Meanwhile, while Seryna Van Kuelen’s Brogagah Darcy (Dakar VDL x Warrenstown WE 3) was ridden by Paul Beecher to finish fourth with 88.

In fifth place, also on a score of 88, was Keith Moloney with Mikey Pender’s MB Ask Emerald (Emerald Van’t Ruytershof x Hoeks Ludo W), while Shane O’Reilly, riding Brian McConville’s BWE Special Rose (I’m Special de Muze - Camilo de Haar Z), was just half a mark behind on 87.5.
