KATE Derwin (18), a young lady who needs no introduction, added the Horse Sport Ireland 1.40m Grand Prix of Cavan to her already impressive list of career victories last Sunday night.

Riding her Uncle Jim Derwin’s 11-year-old Deep Pockets, a gelding by OBOS Quality 004 out of Simply Chic (Cruising), Derwin posted a time of 44.52 to secure the win. Bred by Co Westmeath’s Charles Pidgeon, Derwin has been riding Deep Pockets since June last year and the pair have been in good form placing fifth in the 1.50m Premier Grand Prix at Balmoral in August.
