DONEVAN Erkindale, ridden by John Floody, dominated in Saturday’s feature, the 1.35m Grand Prix, at Cavan Equestrian Centre.
Run in a two-phase format, the class, which was worth €1,500 in prize money, attracted a 57-strong startlist. Some 23 of these produced a double clear round, with Floody’s time of 27.90 proving unbeatable for the win with Kevin Thompson and Geralyn Thompson’s 14-year-old gelding.
Second place went to Sean Kavanagh and Rosemary Reynolds’s Carousel Gold (Caricello x Colourfield) in 29.61. Young rider Harry Wood, riding the Balou du Rouet gelding Salvador, took third place in 30.29, while Jonathan Smyth and Ann Doherty’s Crystal Graf (Lux Z x Graf Magna) were fourth in 32.20.
Max O’Reilly Hyland, riding his own French-bred Babar de Bussy, took fifth while junior rider Oisin Magee and the Paul Curtis-owned Landslide AW completed the line-up in sixth.
