MULLINGAR CSI2* Show proved to be a happy hunting ground for Cian Byrne, as he collected results both in the international and national arenas. On Monday, he took the honours in the 1.10m Derravarra Championship. Riding China Man, he was fastest of three double clears in the 14-way jump-off in a blistering time of 35.67. Jake Hunter was hot on his heels, delivering a clear with the six-year-old Diamond Timbit in a time of 36.46. Junior rider Ellie Pothmann was a split second behind Hunter, clocking 36.50 with the seven-year-old Porch Party. Amateur rider Ashley O’Sullivan put in a very fast time of 34.30 with Dowdstown Quality, but four faults saw her take fourth place. Rachel Finnegan and Image also paid the price for a fast round, finishing on four faults in a time of 34.71 for fifth place. Junior rider Emma Barrett and Electra B took sixth place, when she incurred four faults in a time of 35.49.

1.10m Lake County Ladies Championship

Children on Horses rider, Olivia Duffy took the win in the 1.10m Championship, when she partnered Sarah Duffy’s Shanbo What A Prince to a clear in 36.31 in the 11-way jump-off. A clear from amateur rider, Aine O’Gorman and Diamond Dreamer in 36.79 saw her take second, while in third was Children on Horses rider, Matilde Hughes Bravo and Miss Belgium III, clear in 37.46. Amateur rider Niamh Quinn [AA] answered all the questions with Clonguish Vivaro in 37.51 for eventual fourth, ahead of Sara Pothmann Cullen and True Detective, clear in 39.19. Junior rider, Lauren Cole and Afram B took sixth when they answered all the questions in a time of 41.57.

1.20m Midland Classic Championship

Winner of the 1.20m Midland Classic Championship was junior rider Jamie Hargaden and Geron RS, when they delivered a double clear in a time of 34.51. In total, 31 combinations contested the jump-off course and, from those, just six booked their place against the clock. Brendan Murphy took the runner-up place with the seven-year-old, Abs Misty, when they kept all the poles in place in a time of 34.81. Deirdre Doyle and the eight-year-old Kancruise took third place when they came home with nothing to add in a time of 35.80, while in fourth place was young rider Tadhg McKiernan and the eight-year-old CW Luiboutain, clear in a time of 38.32. A clear from Ger O’Neill and the eight-year-old Casia Z in 39.53 saw them take fifth place. Molly Hughes Bravo finished as the fastest four-faulter in 39.31 with the eight-year-old, HHS Savanna, for sixth.

Lilliput Metre Championship

Leading the victory lap in the 1m Championship was Vicki Sherwood and V. Postbaans Quickalme, when they were the fastest of seven double clears in a time of 39.82 in the two-phase class. The closest of margins separated the next placing, as Abby Morton and Blueoak Peek-A-Boo galloped home in a time of 39.90. Children on Horses rider, Eimhin Kellett took third with Kilcolgan Quality, when they crossed the line in 41.31. A clear from junior rider Molly Sharkey and Ballistic M25 in 41.76 saw them take fourth, ahead of young rider Sorcha McDonagh and Fairfield L200 in 41.96. Little stood between the next placing as amateur rider Lorraine Barber and Toberdanes Floras Motion crossed the line in 41.97.

Amateur Championship

Catherine Keogh (A) won the amateur championship, jumping clear with Tullyunshin Skyfall in a time of 28.22. The runner-up spot was occupied by Olwyn Alexander [AA] and Faline, clear in 28.29. Slotting into third was Joseph Murphy [A] and Our Rags to Riches, clear in 28.87, while in fourth was Lauren Carville [A] and Castlelodge Osmium Rose, clear in 33.45. Fifth place belonged to Kevin O’Reilly [AA) and Furore S, when he had one down in a time of 25 seconds. Completing the top six was Martina Carey [AA] on Annaghmore Star De La Vie with four faults in 25.87.
