SUNDAY’s 1.25m competition on Sunday at Cavan Equestrian Centre served as a qualifier for the seven-year-old Cavan Classic and saw 46 combinations go to post for a competitive class.

Sixteen of these managed to produce a double clear round with young rider Tom Keville riding Eugene Keville’s Kilnamac Enda (Lux Z X Clover Hill) taking the win with the fastest second round in a time of 27.47.

Junior rider Alex Reynolds and Fiona Brady’s eight-year-old Farnane Lily (Orestus x Desir du Chateau) finished in second place in 29.21.

Third went to the Dutch-bred gelding Adonis W ridden by Charlotte Harding in 31.10, while Robert Russell guided Ballyrobin Nimmerdor (Lancelot x Gypsy Duke) to fourth in 31.89.

Stephen Gibson and his own seven-year-old SGS Pride of the Hill (Tolan R x Porsch) were fifth and the highest placed seven-year-old in the class, followed by Orla Cassidy and her own seven-year-old mare Whietree Endeavour (Vancouver x Telling Tales) completed the line up in sixth.

Harding onto a winner

Sunday’s 1.20m, which offered qualifying places for the six-year-old Cavan Classic, was won by young rider Charlotte Harding riding Jayne Clarke’s Velvet Flare (Mermus R x Jamaican Gold). The pair recorded a second-round clear in a time of 35.41 to secure victory.

Wesley Ryan and his six-year-old gelding El Pablito (Cobra x Guidam) took the runner-up spot when they stopped the clock at 36.50.

Harding and her second mount, the six-year-old RJC Second Bet (Hoeks Ludo W x Loughehoe Guy), were third in 38.91, while Hallie Crowe riding her Belgian-bred six-year-old Querina van de Helle were fourth.

Fifth went to Justine Harding and her mare Charissma, while sixth was Cavan’s own junior rider Camryn Clarke riding Thomascourt Stables’ Thomascourt Darco Q (Amaretto Darco x OBOS Quality 004).

Sean Kavanagh won Saturday afternoon’s 1.35m at Cavan Equestrian Centre, riding Rosemary Reynolds Carousel Gold (Caricello x Colourfield) when the pair broke the finish beam in a time of 36.34.

Wesley Ryan guided the nine-year-old stallion Urney Park Balou (Balou Du Rouet x Hello Oscar) into second place in 45.08.

Wrenwood Stables Limited’s Belgian-bred mare Kerly De Regor and Stacey Babes took third while Junior rider Jack Ryan and Valerie O’Reilly’s Dinard H (Diarado x Corrado I) were fourth as the fastest four-faulter.

Sean Kavanagh and his second mount, the eight-year-old Castle Lux Clover (Boherdeal Clover x Lux Z), took fifth place, while Conor McLaughlin partnered Korleenie (Pacino x Cruising) into sixth place.
