Lucidam proves the one to beat

1.30m Championship

LUCIDAM, owned by Gillian Kerr and ridden by Angela Waras, proved best of the 35 starters in last Sunday’s 1.30m championship at Cavan. By Luidam out of Lux Valley (by Olympic Lux), the nine-year-old bay mare was bred by Orlagh Kelly.

Some 17 combinations progressed to the timed decider, of which 10 returned a double-clear round.

Waras was fastest in a time of 36.74, while runner-up Julia Kennedy riding her own Killerisk Clair (OBOS Quality 004 - Oke Boy) stopped the clock in 37.55.

Jennifer Leeper’s Ardragh Cordubh with Jonathan Smyth in the saddle were third in 37.71, while fourth went to Emily Turkington riding Donald Loughran’s eight-year-old Comdero II Van Beek in 40.21.

Junior rider Lily O’Dea and the six-year-old CSF Dr Who (Indoctro - Darco) slotted into fifth, while Kevin Gallagher and Sharon Fitzpatrick’s eight-year-old Keatingstown Quite Chacco took sixth.

In Saturday’s 1.30m, Martin O’Meara and Kennysflight took the red ribbon. By Errigal Flight out of Cruisings Girl, she is owned by her rider and posted a time of 25.52 for the win.

The runner-up spot went to Andrew Hodgins riding Sandra (Lux Z - Sandro Boy) in 25.69, while third was junior rider Ella Clancy and the seven-year-old Coraghoe Steel (Mermus R - Cruising) in 28.31.

Fourth went to Rebecca Stack with La Force De Tamerville, while fifth was Suzanne Posnett riding Maxim Van Overis Z. Glenn McCullough and Elodie LVS Z completed the line-up in sixth place.
