MY CLEMENTINE, owned by David Prentice and ridden by Angela Waras won the €1,500 six and seven-year-old final on Sunday afternoon at the Cavan November Horse Festival.

Home-bred by Prentice, the Irish Sport Horse mare is by OBOS Quality, out of the Kashmir Van Schuttershof-sired Grade A mare Qualisca De Vansichant who was ridden during her successful career by Edward Little and Suzanne Posnett.

The pair won Thursday’s qualifier and have been consistently in the top six in 1.35m and 1.30m classes all year.

Their second-round time of 34.54 was enough to secure them the win over second-placed Emma McEntee aboard Castlefield Breeding Farm’s seven-year-old Far West De Hus (Windows VH Costersveld x Lefvre) in 34.99. Thirteen combinations had made it through to the jump-off on Sunday, where just five were double clear.

Vincent Byrne slotted into third with Kayleigh Soden’s CBI Bella Donna (Zapatero VDL x Luidam), bred by Aidan Carroll, in a time of 35.51, while Greg Broderick’s French-bred mare Grand Prix DK was the best placed six-year-old when guided to fourth by Clem McMahon.

Byrne also finished fifth, this time riding Ivor Broderick’s Dutch-bred stallion Cornerado VDL (Cornet Obolensky x Indorado), while Aidan Killeen and his own KS Casaltan (Casallco x Diarado) took sixth as the fastest four-faulters.
