THE penultimate round of Pony and Young Rider RDS Qualifiers saw riders flock to Cavan Equestrian Centre last weekend in a bid to book their place to next month’s RDS National Equestrian Championships.

In the 128cm division, seven tickets were up for the taking, with 47 combinations battling it out. Taking the win was Robbie Sheehan and Hes A touch of Magic when he delivered a clear in 31.03 seconds. He was chased home by Mullingar’s Ted Fagan with the very experienced Kiltormer Ruby, in 35.32. Helen Walsh and the eight-year-old Knockash Lady Bird also kept all the poles in place in 36.34 for third place, ahead of Sam Widger and the seven-year-old Creevelea Fire Fox in 36.53. A clear from David Brennan and MHS Rebel Pride in 39.43, saw them slot into fifth place, while completing the top six line-up was Reuben Dunne and Wingland Heloise in 41.18. Lily Tunney took the last ticket, fastest of the four-faulters with Scarletts Cromwell in 29.60.
