IN a triple bill of the SJI Summer Series, riders travelled to Tuberbride and Barnadown on Saturday and to Tipperary on Sunday in a bid to qualify for the final of the series which will take place at Mullingar Equestrian in September.

At Tubberbride, it was amateur rider Orla Dixon and Ravens Koro D’or Labelle who took the win in the 90cm division, clear in 23.10 seconds. Following closely behind was young rider Sinead McKeon and Cobid Rio, clear in 23.46, ahead of Catherine Bolas and Du Carels Vivendi, clear in 26.32.

Leading the victory lap in the 1m was amateur rider Marie Molloy and Donnard Melody when she put in a foot-perfect performance in a time of 31.66. Fellow amateur rider Brendan Dolan and Roscrib Harry also came home clear in 32.15, while in third was Heather Denholm and Warrington, clear in 33.57.

In the 1.10m, 16 contested this section with 14 delivering double clears. Orla Dixon again returned to claim this victory when she partnered Prada Royale to a clear in 29.52. Heather Denholm opted for the safer path with Figaro VD Heffinck and delivered a clear in 33.24 for second. Brendan Dolan picked up another placing when he came home aboard Roscrib Harry in a time of 34.12.

Taking the win in the 1.20m was junior rider Conor Gilmartin and Brooklyn Nine Nine when he was fastest of five double clears in 36 seconds. Cian Harrision was fractions behind with the seven-year-old Sambuca H, in 36.12 for second. Victoria Golden came home in 37.17 aboard her own six-year-old Abbeyward Rainbow for third.

Victoria Golden added to her winnings as she led the 1.30m with her own Sea Point when she delivered a clear in 33.84. Golden also took third with Abbeyward Rainbow, clear in 39.06. Cian Harrision and Sambuca H separated Golden’s placing as he took second place, clear in 37.13.

Barnadown

In the 90cm, 46 combinations went to post and from those, five double clears were delivered. Fastest of those was amateur rider Elaine Howard and BMK Newtimes Legacy in a time of 36 seconds. Fellow amateur rider Carol Ann O’Neill and Ralfstar took second when they clocked 40.88, ahead of junior rider Sophie Wilson and Larina Cruise, in 44.77.

In the 1m division 75 combinations went to post and taking the win when going clear in 34.42 was junior rider Anna Morrissey and Royale Mardi Gras. Taking the runner-up place was junior rider Faye Delaney and Rossdarragh Flash, ahead of Children on Horses rider Ciara Ryan and Chica of The Rocky Mounten Z, clear in 40.98.

Landing victory in the 1.10m was Children on Horses rider Brona Keane when she came home with nothing to add aboard Quality Diamond in a time of 34.93. Amateur rider Lisa Doyle took second with Corland’s Clippler, clear in 35.86, while in third was another Children on Horses rider, Henry Sinnott, and Lassban Safirah, clear in 37.35.

Leading the victory lap in the 1.20m was junior rider Taylor Peare and Lissyegan Geoffrey when they galloped home with nothing to add in 29.21. There was little between the placings as young rider Trudie Hermione McCoosh (YR) came home clear aboard TMSH Quality Assured (7yo) in a time of 29.48. A clear from Alyssa O’Neill and Danos Lola in 30.23 saw them take third place.

It was a good weekend for Cathal Daniels as he took the win in the 1.30m section. Riding Daisy Duggan’s EMS Adelaide, he delivered a clear in 36.41. Aoife Dooley and Cavalier Teaca took the runner-up spot, when they came home clear in 37.64. Slotting into third was Eddie Moloney and Ardkyle B, clear in 43.97.

Tipperary EC

Amateur riders were out in force in Tipperary with Elaine Howard clinching the win in the 90cm division. Riding BMX New Times Legacy, she came home clear in 30.10. Taking the runner-up place was amateur rider Willie O’Dea and Gaulross Nora, clear in 31.21, ahead of Clara Hassett and Bellews Tomboy, clear in 31.35.

Winner of the 1m was Emma Walsh and Lux Like Diamond, clear in 29.64. Walsh was chased home by amateur rider Lorna Conroy and Clontarf Annabella, clear in 29.73. Third place belonged to amateur rider Liz Fenton and Coolnadane Mr Ed, clear in 30.42.

Amateur rider Lorraine Young and Little Miss Russel took the win in the 1.10m when she came home clear in 28.40. Junior rider Tamara Perry put in a gallant attempt with Hilton DC, crossing the line in 29.13 for second. Amateur rider Lorna Power took third with Burrin Equestrian Rafiki, clear in 30.46.

Young rider Emma Hassett took the win in the 1.20m when she partnered Classesse De La Lawe to a clear in 30.30. Diarmuid Killeen played it safe with Clooncalagy Legend and delivered a clear in 36.60, ahead of Robyn Lee and Imago II, clear in 38.32.

Junior and young riders took the top placings in the 1.30m section. Leading the victory lap here was junior rider Katie Doyle with Heldin.
