THE fifth round of the 2024 Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) Studbook Show Jumping series took place in Maryville on Saturday.

Winner of the seven-year-old final was Ballypatrick’s Niamh McEvoy, when she delivered the winning clear round in 26.61 aboard BP Tiny Dancer. This was the second win of the show for the pair, as they also won the Connolly’s Red Mills Munster Grand Prix the day before.

Owned by Sarah Tredennick, the mare was bred by GBBS International and is by Plot Blue out of the very successful show jumping mare, Uptown Girl (Concorde). She was sold by the breeders at their Ballypatrick Auction.

Out of the 39 starters, 19 double clears were delivered in the two-phase class. Taking the runner-up place was Mikey Pender aboard his own Madgeslane Louis (Luidam x Obos Quality 004), when they clocked 26.97.

Shane Dalton followed closely behind with the Ennisnag Stud-owned Mendoza (Harley VDL x Cardento) in a time of 27.38. Slotting into fourth place was Paddy O’Donnell and Alberta Capital Limited Conway’s Castleconnell Candy Man (Sligo Candy Boy x Mermus R), when they came home in a time of 28.24.

Fifth place belonged to Harry Wood and the Richard Kirby-owned BP Rocket Man (Stakkato Gold x Quidam Junior), when they clocked 28.27. Mark Cleary’s clear with Michael Hayden’s Primo Merona (Grand Slan VDl x Matterhorn) in 29.14 saw them take sixth place.

The five- and six-year-old studbook classes were run as a two-phase competition. Time was only used for the provision of time faults, so all double clear rounds divided the prize money.

In the five-year-olds, 29 double clears shared the prize money, while in the six-year-olds, there were also 29 clear.
