I AM in the mood for disagreement this week, and, having disagreed with Timeform regarding the time assessment of the longer-distance contests at the Curragh at the weekend, I have done the same regarding some of those at shorter distances.

There were three races at six furlongs on Saturday, of which Beckford’s win in the Group 2 Gain Railway Stakes was comfortably the quickest. It comes out at 12lbs faster than U S Navy Flag’s impressive win in the opening maiden and fully 36lbs quicker than Only Mine’s listed success once weight and weight-for-age has been taken into account.
