SIX British-trained horses are among the entries for the eight Grade 1 races at the Dublin Racing Festival [DRF].
Just two horses from Britain travelled for last year’s two-day meeting at Leopardstown and both of them ran in handicaps. One of them, Madara, won a valuable handicap chase over an extended two miles.
The DRF is just three weeks away and, for the first time, will be a ticket-only affair this year. Last year’s fixture attracted 20,000 on day one and 16,000 on day two. The 2025 edition is expected to benefit from the fact that Ireland play England in the Six Nations in the nearby Aviva Stadium after racing on Saturday, February 1st.
Christmas winners Galopin Des Champs, Brighterdaysahead, Banbridge and Romeo Coolio are just some of the top names expected to run at the Festival. Solness, The Yellow Clay, East India Dock and Majborough also feature in the initial entries.
The six British entries for the Grade 1 races this year are East India Dock (James Owen) and Quantock Hills (Warren Greatrex) in the Juvenile Hurdle, Here Comes Georgie (Paddy Neville) in the Irish Arkle, Good And Clever (Greatrex) in the two-mile novice hurdle, Boothill (Harry Fry) in the Dublin Chase and Dysart Enos (Fergal O’Brien) in the Irish Champion Hurdle.
