TWELVE months ago, the Elite foal sale at Cavan enjoyed its best year to date, and with a 93% clearance together with a €36,000 sale topper, it was one of the stand-out sales of the year.

This time around, the truly outstanding catalogue offers a similar number of foals, each of which is briefly previewed below. There are siblings to the world class James Kann Cruz, as well as Cooley Jump The Q and the sale topping family of Thomascourt Atlantus (1.50m).

Lot 1 Unnamed, reg b c f by Carrera VDL out of Dowdstown Indi (Argentinus). A colt from a stout family, whose dam competed to 1.30m with Olive Clarke. Adding depth, the second dam Narina (1.45m) was campaigned by Tim Gredley, while the third dam was the Dutch-based Zambia (1.50m).

Lot 2 Lisenagh Star, reg b f f by Big Star out of Kataleya (London). From a globally competing family, this filly is out of a sister to three notable performers including He’s Blue (1.45m) ridden by Karel Polak (CZE). Also, from the direct maternal line of Elton John (1.60m) and Spartacus TN (1.60m).

Lot 3 TMSH Diamant Serpent, reg b c f by Diament de Semilly out of Legaland Serpent (Diamond Serpent). A half-brother to the current campaigner Lady Majella (1.45m), while the dam is a sibling the three-star event horse Stomling Paddy and closely related to Clawn Lux Imp (1.45m).

Lot 4 Emerald Q, reg b c f by Emerald Van de Ruytershof out of Jump The Q (OBOS Quality). One of the obvious catalogue picks, this beautifully bred colt is a half-brother to the five-star winning Grand Prix jumper Cooley Jump The Q (1.60m) ridden by Max Kuhner, as well as to Thomascourt Darco (1.40m). The dam meanwhile is a sister to the former Kevin Babington-ridden top performer Mark Q (1.60m)

Lot 8 Kilcorig Agallix, reg ch c f by Aganix du Seigneur out of Gotcha Nema (Casall). Looking at the second dam, Ipanema jumped to 1.50m with Inga Czwalina (CZE) and is a sister to Crazy Lion (1.50m) partnered by French rider Francois Thiry. Another sibling to the second dam is the mother of Thomas Vos’ Clinton 1(1.60m), Clintus 3 (1.60m) and Chica Bay (1.60m) dam of Levisto Z (1.60m).

Lot 9 Unnamed, reg b c f by Carerra VDL out of Berlina (Berlin). Dam competed to 1.30m under Jean Le Monze, and is a sister to Chamonix du Reve (1.45m). Adding real strength, the second dam is a sister to Marcus Fuchs’ current five-star campaigner Viper Z (1.55m) as well as to Twilight (1.45m) and the Jenny Rankin-ridden Call Me Cool Z (1.40m).

Lot 10 Unnamed, reg bl c f by Casall out of Fuga de Muze (Calato). An exceptionally well bred sibling to the popular jumping stallion Pollux de Muze (1.60m), as well as the Swiss-based Demanteur de Muze Z (1.50m). Lot 16 MP Chakalaka, reg gr c f by Chacoon Blue out of Celah Sue De Rialfo Z (Coupe de Coeur). A colt out of Madeline Allen’s good mare Celah Sue De Rialfo Z (1.55m) while the third dam Lichtspiel competed to 1.40m.

Lot 17 Ard Valenka, reg ch f by Vancouver de Lanlore out of Walenka (Calvados). Very well related, this filly is a sibling to Freya 349 (1.50m) and Geraldine (1.45m) while the dam is a full-sister to Vancouver (1.60m) and several further notables.
