THERE was an across-the-card double with a difference last weekend for the McCarthy family of Greenogue Equestrian as Con McCarthy’s Ganesh won the Grand Prix at the Dressage Ireland national championships in Mullingar while his daughter Lucy owns Greenogue Gigi, winner of the Southern Fuel & Farm Supplies CCI2*-S at Ballindenisk.

This 37-starter class was decimated by 17 withdrawals, the majority before the cross-country phase where there two eliminations. “The organisers did as good a job as they could in the conditions and the event actually ran really well,” said Ian Cassells who partnered Greenogue Gigi to victory on his dressage score of 32 penalties.
