CORMAC Hanley Snr from Claremorris Equestrian Centre in Co Mayo was honoured recently with the ‘Claremorris Lifetime Services Award’ at the Claremorris GAA Club awards night.
Cormac, often described as a ‘legend’ in the equestrian circles, is similarly highly regarded in the GAA scene in Co Mayo. Current president of Claremorris GAA club, he is the only former player of the club to have won four Mayo senior club medals and he played about 20 times for the senior Mayo team.
An article published in The Mayo News last week said: “Cormac Hanley epitomises everything that is good about Claremorris and Mayo football. Mention Cormac and everyone in these parts knows who you are talking about.”
Legacy
Cormac built and founded Claremorris Equestrian Centre almost 45 years to the day – on Easter Monday in 1980. Alongside his wife Eleanor and four children – Charles, Amanda, Cameron and Carl – Cormac built it from the ground up and the thriving business is still going under Charles and his wife Sinead.
Congratulations Cormac from the Irish Horse World.
