THE first leg of the Jumpinaction.net secondary schools jumping league got under way on a sunny Sunday morning, October 1st, with the novice individual class running first at Killossery Lodge Stud.

It was Kate Teahan who rode Classiebawn Pep over the line in a time of 39.11 to take home the winner’s rug on the day. Taking second place was Ava Donnellan with Shadow Pearl who crossed the line in 40.13.

Lydia Nakagawa from Muckross Park Donnybrook took the third place rosette ahead of St Joseph’s Mercy Navan student Emma Smyth in fourth.

The Jumpinaction.net secondary school team competition had 11 teams jumping for the prizes. Maynooth Education Campus and O’Carolan College made it through to the jump-off. Kate Teahan and Ava Russell set a good target with just four faults and a combined time of 78.15.

Emily Rooney recorded a fast time but picked up four faults and although team mate Grace Rooney jumped clear, their combined time of 79.15 left them in second place. Ashbourne Community School took third ahead of St Mac Dara’s CC Wolstan’s Celbridge who, with an unfortunate four faults had to settle for fourth.

In the 90/95cm Championship it was Dora, ridden by Ruairi O’Neill, who flew over the line in a time of 34.51 to win. Closest to him in a time of 36.80 was Clodagh Gillic with Zebo taking second place. Robyn Murray from Dundalk Grammar School finished third while Freya Dempsey with Ballinlough Addonis took fourth.

Divided

The Breakaway Campers Primary schools novice individuals was held in the indoor this week. There were 11 who divided the medals. Headfort School had Penny Townshend with Nova, Austin Morrissey with Casper and Cecily Guinness von Maltzan with Dunlewey Ringmasterp; Lismullen had Jane Reynolds with Miss Ruby and Rose Reynolds with Sparky; Kilcloon NS had Sadie Connolly riding Farmleigh Boy and Cara O’Connor riding Sarletts Fireball; Gael Scoil Chnoc Liamhna had Laura Lawlor riding Bloom; Charlotte Baker and Star rode for Hedgestown; Enfield had Eva Carroll Browne with Wendy and Boardsmill NS had Jessica Flood riding Tulicar Dun Lady.

The Breakaway Campers Open individual had 37 starters. The winner with Fanta was Gael Scoil Chnoc Liamhna pupil Rebecca Lawlor. Michael Dunne from Kilcloon NS took second place while Oscar Buckley rode Abbeylands Supreme into third.

Taking the fourth slot was Layla Nakagawa with Camelia Machno while local rider and a frequent visitor to Killossery Joseph Baker with IC Spots finished fifth.

The Breakaway Campers Primary team competition had three teams through to the jump-off. This week it was Kilcloon NS’s Michael Dunne and Oscar Buckley who crossed the finish line with the fastest combined time to take home the rugs.

Second place went to Headfort School after both Isla and Ruby Brennan jumped clear in a combined time of 53.01. St Andrew’s Curragha sent Nancy Caffrey and Niall Horgan in to jump but an elimination left them in third.
