THE third qualifier in the Tattersalls Ireland Treo Eile Showing Pathway Series took place at the Mullingar Showing Show of the Year last Saturday.

Eleven thoroughbreds came before judges Kevin McGuinness and Claire Gilna in the Novice Racehorse to Riding Horse class. Patricia Newman and the nine-year-old Cry Of A Dreamer moved right up the line following the individual show and conformation section to take the red ribbon. Patricia rode the Campaigning Swing gelding in point-to-points and bumpers before transitioning him to a second career. The partnership went on to win the Thoroughbred Working Hunter class at the show.

Runner-up spot went to Cathy Sayers and the former Johnny McConnell-trained Helpisontheway, with Michelle Gilligan and the Scorpion mare Tara Brown in third. Cry Of A Dreamer and Helpisontheway have secured their place in the final on September 3rd.

Virtues

While not in the ribbons, Dot Love highlighted the virtues of the thoroughbred by riding the former Ciaran Murphy-trained Flint in the class, having only come out of training 13 days prior to the show!

In a very competitive Open section, Aileen Dwyer and the Robin Des Pres sired Vanity Flare were pulled in top of the line and maintained their place following McGuinness’ ride. This win comes on the back of the eight-year-old’s recent winning spree at the Riding Club Festival.

The Glandoran qualifier second Mickah Wallace ridden by Stepanie McGlynn moved up two places to take the blue ribbon again this week, with last year’s Novice Series winner Milliner and Phillipa Scott taking third. With Mickah Wallace already qualified, Milliner and Vanity Flare have booked their places at the Royal Meath Show for the final.
