THE South Munster Region of Dressage Ireland held a low-key show last Friday at Greybrook Equestrian Centre where the judges were Joan Ahern (List 2) and Eileen Moloney (List 6).

Ahern awarded her highest score (80%) to the sole combination in the five-year-old young horse class, the Eliza Neumann-owned and ridden Opal, a bay Dutch Warmblood gelding by Dream Boy out of the Glamourdale mare Klaproos.

Glenn Cullen appeared twice before Ahern. He first partnered Andrea Westbrook’s 12-year-old Connemara/thoroughbred cross mare, Sleady Castle Mona, to a 64.50% score, which saw off their sole rivals in the Novice DI24 before recording an uncontested win in the Elementary DI55 on his own Irish Sport Horse gelding FCM Fincken D Hall (61.61). This six-year-old by Desert Moon was bred in Co Wicklow by Fiona Morris out of Contessa SF (by Finckenstein).

Eabha Flanagan recorded a Preliminary double on the 20-year-old British-bred tri-coloured mare Wetherbrook Prima Donna (by Primitive Proposal). In the Ahern-judged, three-runner DI8 in the long arena, they scored 63.08% having won the Moloney-judged, eight-strong DI5A on 68.93.

Seven combinations appeared before Moloney in the Intro B where the sole registered pairing was Aine O’Mahony with her seven-year-old bay mare Duncormick Ruby (65.88%). Laoise Hurley topped the leaderboard in the six-strong Trailblazer Under 12s’ class on The Star (65.59) while Lara Rose O’Regan won the match for honours in the Trailblazer Junior class with My Barbie (66.19).
