SOME prizes went abegging at the conclusion of the weather-affected Leinster Region Autumn/Winter league as riders had to compete at the final in CoilÓg on Sunday week last, December 8th, to be eligible for the league.

Three prizes were distributed at Preliminary level, being presented to Nadine Taylor, who topped the scores with her traditionally-bred Irish Sport Horse mare Heigh Ho Rosey (144.35), an eight-year-old daughter of Heigh Hi Dubh, Ruth Wiseman with Midnight Diamond (141.73) and Kate Hutcheson with Ard Love (134.29). Hutcheson and her 16-year-old ISH mare by Luidam were the winners of the Novice league (141.56), ahead of Eloise McNeely riding Glenmullen Zelda (140.17).

At Elementary level, the winner was Maggy Williams, who recorded a combined score of 136.29 on her six-year-old bay gelding Mullyash Moonlight. Here, Andrea Colfer finished second with Haylemma Lady’s Blue Eyed Boy (134.86) and Zara Bolger was third on Enoville Jade (132.5).

There were no eligible combinations at Medium or Advanced Medium level, but Sorrell Klatzko claimed the Advanced prize on her home-bred ISH gelding Gladiator (135.16), an eight-year-old by Sir Sansibar. Marguerite Kavanagh finished second on Danciano SR (132.5), ahead of Jennifer Egan with Gabriel-Tetti (128.53).

Mai Monahan won the FEI Pony league with the Connemara gelding Carrickfad Cloud Break, an 11-year-old grey by Castle Gigolo, Michaela Dunn claimed the honours in the Junior Novice league on the ISH mare Bit Of Mischief, an eight-year-old bay daughter of Contendro I, while in the Trailblazers’ section there were league wins for Shona Cross with BallyToo (Junior Preliminary) and for Èabha-Lill Clayton with Haybells Cinderella (Mini walk/trot).
