ALOHA! There is a little bit of Connemara on the Hawaii island of Maui following the export of two Connemara ponies by agent Padraic Heanue recently.

Clifden-based Heanue was contacted by a friend in Denmark whose Maui-based sister was looking for two broken and riding Connemara geldings with good temperament and movement and ages five or upwards.

A man on a mission, Padraic got to work and found Finney Lad and Lord Smokey Owen in Northern Ireland to fit the exact criteria. After full five-stage vetting and x-rays, both ponies left Ireland for Los Angeles International Airport via Amsterdam. After three days quarantine upon landing in America, there were finally on a ferry to the island.

Heanue has reported that both ponies have settled well into their new surroundings and are a huge hit on the island.
