IT’S been a busy few weeks for the team at Goresbridge, but with a fresh round of sales on the horizon, Ed Donohoe is particularly excited about the forthcoming Select Sale of Show jumpers, which is due to be staged at the venue on Monday, October 7th.
Strictly focussing on quality over quantity, the catalogue of just 23 three-year-olds were selected by top coach and former international rider, Ian Fearon, together with regular Go For Gold selector, Sally Parkyn.
Now heading into its fourth renewal, the edition has enjoyed outstanding success with its former graduates and, this year, Donohoe is proud to note that the five-year-old graduates Rosconnell Tango (Leah Stack) and Ogue MBF (Jason Higgins) have been chosen to represent Ireland at the WBFSH world championships at Lanaken this weekend.
“We are very excited about the quality of the horses in our selection, and I know both Ian and Sally are equally so,” said Donohoe. “This year, we will be hosting a drinks reception and barbeque from 4pm, in conjunction with the loose jumping performance, before the sale itself kicks off at 7pm.”
Another piece of news emerging from the Kilkenny auction house is that, on the back of such a successful sale of Connemara performance ponies earlier this month and following some hugely positive feedback from both vendors and buyers, this special sector will be reintroduced during the next sport horse sale on October 22nd, 23rd and 24th. Once again, the sector will share the opening day with the general pony sale, giving the entire day to pony buyers from every sphere.
