CONGRATULATIONS to former Junior event rider Megan O’Leary, who won the Corinthian Challenge at The Curragh last Sunday on evens favourite Ndaawi.
Trained by Gordon Elliott, the Easyfix-owned gelding went clear inside the final furlong for an easy four-and-three-quarter-length success. Speaking after the race, O’Leary said: “This is the most amazing thing I have ever done, it was brilliant, an absolute thrill and a huge tick off the bucket list!”
Bridget Speirs finished in second place riding the Jessica Harrington-trained Jungle Cove. Bridget is the mother of Olympic event rider Camilla, who was in attendance with her two-year-old daughter, Tilly Ahearne, who was spotted shouting “go Granny, go!”
