AWARD ceremonies in abundance took place at Basel, including one presentation to equestrian journalist, author and World Cup creator Max E. Ammann. “When you’re old, you appreciate these [awards]. The World Cup was my dream, totally. We had the final in Geneva, we had it in Zurich, to come every five years to Switzerland, that’s very normal and one day, I reach Ireland! I remember the shows there and Ned Campion, Eddie Macken, John Roche… he [John Roche] lives in the same village now,” Ammann said. Adolfo Juri, whose horses include the 2024 Grand Prix winner Connor Jei, was announced as the Swiss Owner of the Year, amongst the other Basel awards.
Basel hosts the 2025 Longines World Cup final in three months time (April 3rd-6th).
