DARRAGH Kenny had a good show at Sentower Park, Opglabbeek in Belgium over the weekend, with the highlight being a win in the two-star 1.45m class on Friday on board the 12-year-old gelding Chaccossini.

From the large start list of 85, 20 combinations jumped clear around the first-round course to make it through to the jump-off. Nine of them were able to repeat the task and jump clear again, but Kenny’s time of 28.77 seconds could not be caught and his nearest challenger, France’s Juliette Faligot on Arqana de Riverland, was just over a second behind in 29.78. A very close third went to Denmark’s Zascha Nygaard Lill on Noah de Kalvarie in 29.80.

There were a number of Irish participants at the two-star show, which ran from Wednesday until Sunday.

Thursday’s two-star 1.40m class saw Kenny finish eighth on Chaccossini with a clear round in 63.46 seconds. Class winner Kevin Jochems (NED) on Looks Good de Liebri Z stopped the clock in 55.23.

The day’s two-star 1.45m class saw Tom Wachman ride Do It Easy into eighth place with a clear round in 62.83. Belgian rider Frederic Vernaet won the class wwith Okina van de Bien in a time of 57.15.

Kenny finished fifth in Friday’s two-star 1.40m class on board Zero K, with a clear round in 58.92. Winner Kevin Jochems (NED) on Looks Good de Liebri Z stopped the clock in 55.99.

On Saturday, Wachman finished fourth in the two-star 1.45m Two-phase Special class riding Hawaii.

The pair jumped double clear in a phase two time of 27.09. German winner, Kendra Claricia Brinkop on Lot Sport rode round the phase two course in a very speedy 25.54.

Later in the day, Harry Allen and Daredevil Z secured the runner-up position in the one-star Young Horse Seven and Eight-year-old 1.35/1.40m class, when they jumped double clear in a jump-off time of 29.56.

Belgian rider Kobe Hendrix on Reality Miltoo won the class with a jump-off time of 28.29 – just over a second ahead of Allen.
