ON Thursday at Barnadown, the George Mullins International Horse Transport saw a large entry of 66 for the €2,000 class.

Claiming victory was Shane Moloney and RHS Blue when they were fastest of 16 double clears in a time of 36.97. Owned by John Hoyne and bred by Deirdre McGuckian the 10-year-old mare is by Cheers Cassini out of the Cruising Micky Finn-sired Tullibards Ask Benny.

This combination also delivered a double clear in the George Mullins-sponsored 1.30m, but finished just outside the top six. This is the second good result for this combination having claimed the runner-up in the 1.35m HSI development class in August.

There was little between the top two placings as Aisling McGreal and her own eight-year-old Rincoola Macushla crossed the line in a time of 37.64 to take the runner-up spot. Bred by the late Harold McGahern, the mare is by OBOS Quality 004 out of the Touch Down-sired Rincoola Holly Berry. This pairing has clocked up a series of results at this level, which includes a win in Cavan July Champions and at the Plus Vital Summer Championships in Mullingar.

Gallant attempt

Young rider Alex Finney and Absolutely Kingmar Z put in a gallant attempt, but their time of 38.22 proved only good enough for third place. Bred by Gerry Marron and owned by Jean Finney, the 11-year-old mare is by Aganix Du Seigneur out of Class of Touch Hero.

National young rider champion Robyn Moran and Cushlas Fryday answered all the questions, but in a slower time of 38.80 for eventual fourth. Owned by Vera Griffin and bred by John Peter Finlay, Cushlas Fryday is an eight-year-old gelding by Hector Van D’Abdijhoeve out of the Apache D’Adriers-sired dam, Une Ardente De Vie (SF). Cushlas Fryday was Moran’s winning mount in the TRM Showjumpers Club Spring Tour.

Slotting into fifth place was Tara Glynn aboard her own Inschalla C Z, when they crossed the line clear in 39.42. This 10-year-old gelding is by I’m Special de Muze out of the Darco-sired Tabella C.

Francis Connors and the eight-year-old Carrigshawn Vendi Royal completed the top six, when clear in 39.81. Owned by Francis, Jenny and Kate Connors, the eight-year-old mare by Dondoctro Ryal K was bred by John Warner out of Carrigshawn Vendi.

MacGuinness win

Earlier in the day, amateur rider Lorraine MacGuinness [A] and Horseware Kinmar Night took the win in the George Mullins-sponsored 1.10m, when clear in 33.92. Winner of the George Mullins -sponsored 1.20m was Junior rider Emily Moloney and Capitol Cruise, when they were fastest of 48 double clears in 32.87.

Leading the victory lap in the 1.30m was junior rider Taylor Peare and Lissyegan Geoffrey when they were fastest of 11 clear rounds.

On Friday, Robyn Moran was back in the ribbons, this time claiming the George Mullins 1.10m classic with the eight-year-old Fortside Trend when clear in 52.20. Winner of the 1.20m was Orla Queally and Nour Alain when she delivered a double clear in 52.15. Young rider Ciara Fives led the victory lap in the 1.30m, when they put in a blistering clear in a time of 24.48.

Saturday classes

On Saturday, winner of the 1.10m classic, sponsored by Abbey Upholstery, was Junior rider Sunnibhe Stassin, when they put in a foot-perfect performance in a time of 24.93. The 1.20m classic sponsored by Abbey Upholstery saw 97 go to post and it was Aoife McCabe and Red Bull Quality Z that took the win when clear in 25.87.

Later that day, Max Foley and Hermes De Cavalier took the win in the 1.30m when he came home clear in 29.66.

Lisa Doyle and Corland’s Clipper emerged victorious in the Allfresh Wholesale-sponsored 1.10m, clear in 25.81, while young rider Larisa Ryan and Killycloghan Rising Star took the win in the 1.20 Allfresh Wholesale class.

Winner of the 1.30m two-phase was young rider Patrick Fleming and the seven-year-old Ballinaguilkey Fusion Exchange, clear in 34.78.
