ON Saturday the first of the championships to be contested was the Aloga Auction & Castlefield Breeding Farm-sponsored five/six-year-old All Studbooks final with 30 combinations going to post in a bid to secure their share of the €7,500 on offer.

Leading the victory lap was Abbie Sweetnam aboard the six-year-old Magic Girl when they were fastest of the double clears in a time of 37.21. Owned by Jeremy Sweetnam, the mare is by Malibu TN out of the Padinus-sired dam A Lucky Girl. The pair performed well, claiming second place in the qualifier the day before and third in the first qualifier. Prior to this they had also qualified for the Dublin Horse Show.

Sweetnam, a niece of European silver medallist Shane, was chased home by Eddie Moloney and the six-year-old Rosamund as they finished fractions behind with nothing to add in a time of 37.91. Owned by Equinimity LLC, the Belgian Warmblood mare is by Button Sitte and is out of the Landor S-sired Bailey Van D’Abelendreef.

This combination also delivered results over the course of the show taking the runner-up place in the first qualifier and third in the second decider.

Little separated the next placing as Jason Higgins and MBF Maxwill answered all the questions in a time of 38.01. Owned by Higgins and Meabh Bolger, the six-year-old stallion is by Do Spiritivo and out of the Damiro-sired dam, Kloxiana.

Performance

Placed fourth in the opening qualifier, Jason Foley and the five-year-old Castlefield Dancer repeated this performance, delivering a clear in 38.17.

Slotting into fifth place was Brendan Murphy and Roger De Mariposa when they crossed the line just fractions behind in a time of 38.25. Owned by Thomas Foley the six-year-old is by Vegabond De La Pomme out of the Air Jordan-sired Angela Z.

Murphy took another share of the prize fund when he partnered the six-year-old Marcel WB to a clear in 39.66. Owned by Langara Ventures, the gelding is by Chapeau TN out of Ziniki Bea.
