ATTENTION turned to young riders and Children on Horses on Sunday at The Meadows, where it was the last chance to qualify for next month’s Dublin Horse Show.

In the 1.35/1.40m division, 34 combinations battled it out over three rounds. Taking the win was Carlow rider Max Foley, when he delivered a clear aboard HHS Catwalk in a time of 45.15. Over two seconds behind was Coen Williams on Conthanja PS, keeping all the poles in place in a time of 47.25.

Third place belonged to Isabel O’Brien and Javas Gucci, clear in 48.74. Rhys Williams joined his brother in the line-up, taking fourth place with Cowboy Balou (48.90). Taylor Peare took fifth place with WEC Mermus Rua, when she also maintained a clean sheet in a time of 48.99. Completing the top six line-up was Isobel Sheehan and Athea Clover Trend (50.58).

1.25/1.30m

There was a big entry for the 1.25/1.30m division, with 91 going to post over three rounds. Leading the victory lap was Kiera McGrath and Lissyegan Geoffrey, when triple clear in a time of 44.07. Little divided the next placing as Max Foley and HHS Calgary came home clear in 44.55.

Not content with second, Foley also took third place with the seven-year-old Sumas Knockout, clear in 44.65. A clear from Annie Boland and The Hurricane slotted them into fourth place (45.19), while in fifth was Conor Gilmartin and Brooklyn Nine Nine (45.95). Cáit Kenny and Good Guy D’Authuit took sixth place, when keeping all the poles in place in a time of 46.10.

1.10m/1.15m

Winner of the 1.10m/1.15m section was Katie Duignan aboard the seven-year-old Aboy Duggie, when they were fastest of seven triple clears in time of 38.63. Duignan’s closest rival was Emma Dolan and the seven-year-old Seeing Red, in a time of 39.07.

Third place was occupied by Lucy Morton and Drumcairne in a time of 39.18, ahead of Daniel Ring on the six-year-old Kilkern Quality in a time of 39.36. Aidan O’Brien and the Daniel Coyle-owned six-year-old Nahla took fifth when clear in 39.41. Eddie Codd and Hannah Wood’s six-year-old, HDI Restless finished in sixth (39.43).

Children on Horses

The Children on Horses division went down to the wire, with seven combinations maintaining clean sheets over three rounds.

Taking the first ticket was Isabelle Ó Conaola and Earl Greys Last Cruise in a time of 44.15. Colm Widger and Grantstown Charmer crossed the line in 44.09 for second place, while a very fast round of 45.12 seconds for Honor Bills-Everett and the Sarah Crosbie-owned MHS Cuffesgrange saw them take third place.

Max Galway and Cassido, slotted into fourth when they clocked 45.68. Colm Widger was back in the line-up taking fifth with Ad Fundum D’Ersr Z, when they galloped home in a time of 46.19. Daisy O’Dea and Corraghoe Bounce slotted into sixth place when they came home in 46.98.
