SATURDAY afternoon’s Irish Masters attracted a starting field of 14. Katie Nallon proved best of these riding Sandra Duffy’s Ecklands Helado.

A clear first round in a good time of 45.08, put them into the enviable position that they just had to produce a clear in the second round to secure the win, which is exactly what they did.

Andrew Farren and his own Dutch-bred mare Holga finished in second place in 47.16, while Paul Caves riding his own Cafre Quality Clover (OBOS Quality x Lux Z) took third in 48.16.

Junior Ben Walsh rode Jillian Nelson’s seven-year-old Adastra Milo (Toland R x Furistos Diamond), bred by Malachy Marron into fourth place.

Fifth went to owner/rider Hannah Patterson with the Dutch-bred mare Daberlina M (Zento x Concorde), while Alyson Henry’s Caugherty Ronan (Hunter Scendro x Evita Van De Doornakkers), bred by Joan Rothwell, completed the line up in sixth.

The following day, Nallon continued with her winning ways, capturing the top-spot in the 1.30m Open Championship with John Philbin’s Carramore Sibon in a time of 35.03.

Jonathan Smyth and Ann Doherty’s Crystal Graf (Lux Z x Graf Magna) were runners-up in 36.10, while Jaymie Crawford and his own similarly bred Crystal Ben Magna (Mermus R x Graf Magna) took third in 40.63.

Aidan O’Brien rode Kieran O’Brien’s home-bred Doneybrewer Quest (O.B.O.S. Quality x Western Promise) into fourth.

Ben Walsh and Ronan McLaughlin’s six-year-old Dutch-bred Nizabalia SMH were fifth, and Katie Nallon with Claire’s Delight took sixth.
