Watching the equestrian Olympics from Versailles was spell-binding. Has there ever been such a stunning location for these fantastic events? Even if Louis, the Dauphin of France had appeared, he would have been over-shadowed by these equestrian superstars!

Sadly for Ireland, medals did not follow, but any disappointment felt by us armchair viewers was more than compensated by the quality of the commentary team of Brendan McArdle (of this parish) with technical insights from Cameron Hanley. Brendan, as always, well-informed, concise, entertaining and backed up by a marvellous speaking voice, was nothing less than a joy to the eyes and ears.

Ireland’s equestrians are fortunate indeed to have commentators of their quality recording these iconic events.
