A 100% clearance rate and total turnover of €3.1 million marked a hugely successful third renewal of the Ballpatrick Auctions last Saturday, December 28th, 2024.
The 25 lots, curated with precision by Greg Broderick and the Ballypatrick team, attracted bidders from all around the globe.
The standout lot of the online auction was Orange De Baugy (Lot 1), an exceptional mare by Dominator x Barbarian, who was crowned the five-year-old world champion at the FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship for Young Horses in Lanaken in 2024. After a lively session between bidders from Ireland, Qatar and the USA, Orange De Baugy was sold to a buyer in the UK for an impressive €416,000, underscoring her world-class potential.
In total, six horses were snapped up by UK buyers, while a total of 13 were purchased by American customers, including the next two top lots. The five-year-old gelding Jasmin D’Ariel (Panama Tame x Diamant de Semilly), was knocked down to the USA at €373,000, while Lot 9, Janus De Vains (Emerald Van’t Ruytershof x Destinee De Vains), another five-year-old gelding, made €298,000.
The flashy grey pony Monbeg Amber (Luidam x Boherdeal Clover) was sold to Denmark for €213,000, while the second pony offering in the sale, the chesnut BP Ooh La La made €153,000 when sold to Sweden.
The auction also highlighted impressive results for younger horses, with three of the five four-year-olds fetching over €100,000 each. The highest priced was the chesnut gelding DCS Ballypatrick – winner of the four-year-olds at Cavan in November 2024, sold to the USA for €137,000.
Home-breds
The top-selling three-year-old, BP Chapeau Z, achieved a strong price of €93,000 which reflects his proven quality and pedigree. He is a stallion by Chacco Blue out of a dam by Baloubet du Rouet (1.60m) - a mare who has already produced the successful stallion Carrera VDL.
Ballypatrick’s home-bred horses also made notable prices, with BP Maganix, a three-year-old gelding by Aganix and out of a Je T’Aime Flamenco x Pacino mare, making €72,000.
BP Maganix hails from an elite lineage that includes BP Wakita (Pacino), a five-star 1.60m jumper.
Bidders from a diverse array of countries, including Spain, Portugal, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, USA, the UK, Turkey, Egypt, Germany, The Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Guatemala, and France, participated in the auction, reflecting its global appeal.
Greg Broderick expressed his gratitude, stating: “This year’s auction has been phenomenal, and it’s amazing to see these incredible horses going to top riders and owners worldwide. Each year, the auction just keeps getting better and stronger, and I couldn’t be prouder of what the team has achieved. I’m really looking forward to seeing these horses excel in their new homes.”
