Hinde new FEI Director of Jumping

AUSTRALIA’s Todd Hinde (35) has been appointed as the new FEI Director of Jumping and will take up his new role in September. The former chef d’equipe of the Australian team comes to the FEI from Equestrian Australia where he has been serving as chef d’equipe since 2019. FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez said. “Todd joins the FEI at a crucial moment for the sport of jumping, with preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in full swing alongside the imminent re-launch of the FEI’s oldest and most prestigious series - the Longines League of Nations – in 2024, and the emergence of new nations and regions at the top level, among others.”

“It is with great honour that I take up this position in the sport that I am so passionate about,” Todd Hinde said. “I look forward to working with the FEI team and all the sport’s stakeholders, to ensure that we continue to develop the discipline of jumping together with integrity and horsemanship at the core of all endeavours.”

Teams set for Europeans

ALL roads lead to Gorla Minore, Italy, for the FEI Youth Show Jumping European Championships next week. Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) Youth High Performance Manager James Kernan is looking forward to the action with his three teams - Children on Horses (under 14), Juniors (under 18) and Young Riders (under 21). The competition officially begins on Monday, July 10th and will run until Sunday, July 16th at the Italian venue.

Kernan is hopefully of a strong performance following an excellent start to the season with teams competing in the FEI Youth Nations Cup series, and included team victories in Hagen and Zuidwolde. Last year Ireland claimed team bronze in the Junior division and Harry Allen won the individual bronze medal in the Young Rider class. Speaking about the announcement, Kernan said: “They are three strong teams, hopefully with everything going according to plan we’ll be in with a fine chance of bringing home some medals. I would like to thank the parents for the continued support and GAIN Equine Nutrition for the support of the youth athletes.”
