IT was four seasons in one day at the beautiful Castle Irvine Estate on Saturday for leg four of the Equijump Pony and COH Spring Tour.

In spite of challenging conditions, the children relished the sense of adventure the picturesque surroundings bring.

The COH class kicked off the action in the Walled Garden Arena, where Robbie Sheehan and Ahare Olympic Flammencio continued their run of good form when taking the win. Emma Burns and Mon Ami Alme picked up second with Edward Feeney and Quality Irish Princess in third.

The 148 one-star 1.10m saw Lucy McCarthy and Gorm take home yet another of the coveted Equijump Coolers, having won three of the four legs to date. This on-form combination then went on to win the 148 1.15m Pony Masters Qualifier at Mullingar the next day.

Second place went to Helen Walsh with Valentino, while Sophia Bingham with Morepark Alamo was hot on her heels in third.

The 148 two-star 1.20m saw Ulster Region athlete Charlotte McCracken take the win with Cwemello Champagne Charlie. Adam Adair came second with Mulvia Blazer and Leon Van Cauwenberge picked up third with Carnone Katie.

The final class of the day in the Walled Garden was the 148 1.30m Viewing Class, with just two combinations going clear in the first round. Robert Russell and Flavia took the win, producing the only double clear. Connie McFadden, just back from her travels abroad, came second with Candy Floss, while Zara Sharkey came third with four faults in the first round.

Rose Garden

The smaller ponies jumped in the Rose Garden and here the 128 U10 class was won by Ben Hawkins and Whistletown Blue Belle. Second was Caitie McEvoy and Tynan Petal and third place went to Josh Fitzgerald with Inchala due Roudoutous.

The 128 one-star 90cm saw a closely fought class go the way of Ronan Duffy and Twinkle Star Cedar, with Ellie Sheane and Chocolat II in second, with Alice Steele and Sparkling Miss Leglands less than half a second behind in third.

Ellie Sheane and Newhaven Cooley took their second win in the series in the 128 two-star 1m class. Lucia Keane and Ravara Mohawk took second place with Chloe Clarke and Uquam d’Emery PFS close behind in third.

The Hilly Billy and Ronan Gilvarry proved too good for the rest once again taking their third win in the 138 one-star 1m class. Edward Walsh Jr and Burnal Skipper were close behind in second and Lucy McCarthy and 50 Shades picked up third.

Charlie Flynn showed his dominance in the 138 two-star 1.10m class, taking his second win of the series with Western Oreo. Zoe Mellett and Fredaine de Blonde finished second, with Chantal Whitehead and Sargent Jack producing the third of only three double clears to take the final podium placing of the day.

With Equijump coolers, sashes and rosettes to the winners, the Keys family put their best foot forward with the podium presentation with chocolate and bubbly for all of the winners, which was much appreciated.
