LES Robinson is the cheerful volunteer with the Easter bonnet on duty at one of several information booths dotted around Olympic Park.

“It probably costs 10 dollars to buy all this, a stapler, some superglue and hey presto! The last day of the Easter Show, I break it apart and give the toys to the kiddies going past and you’d think you’re giving them a million dollars. And then I can start decorating again for next year,” he told The Irish Field.

“I was brought up on a dairy farm in near Pendle Hill, about seven miles from Burnley. Dad always wanted to come here and then in 1965, he said ‘We’re going to Australia’ and we arrived here in August that year.”
