THE catalogue for next month’s September Yearling Sale has been released by Tattersalls Ireland, who also revealed the sale has sold more juvenile winners than any other sale so far in 2024.

The select session takes place on September 24th and 25th, followed by Part II on September 26th. Some 555 yearlings in the main event marks an increase of almost 10%, while the succeeding 275 yearlings is the second largest catalogue in the sale’s history.

Group 1 Matron Stakes heroine Champers Elysees was bought at Part II for €28,000 and her half-brother by Cotai Glory will be offered as Lot 105 next month. Layfayette is another star graduate and her Blue Point half-sister is catalogued as Lot 300, while a Cotai Glory half-sister to Purple Lily is listed as Lot 478. Other notable pedigrees features include a Kodiac out of Finsceal Beo (Lot 273) and a Ten Sovereigns half-sister to Technician (Lot 450).

Other proven sires with progeny offered include Camelot, Dark Angel, Invincible Spirit, Lope De Vega, Sea The Stars and Wootton Bassett.

As attractive as those pages are, the sale has been known for offering great value to buyers. Two years ago, a total spend of €82,000 would have bought you Fred Darling winner Folgaria, Irish Oaks third Purple Lily, Irish 1000 Guineas runner-up A Lilac Rolla and Richmond Stakes second Ballymount Boy.

All lots qualify for the €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes at the 2025 Irish Champions Festival, with prize money being offered to tenth place. The vendor of the winning horse will receive an Overlander Two-Box for one year.

Last year’s race was won by Richard Fahey and Robin O’Ryan’s €75,000 buy Native American, who was purchased privately by Wathnan Racing following an impressive debut win at York.
