1.55 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase 2m 1f 192y

Listed-placed hurdler Walk With Paul appears to have been found an ideal opportunity to land her first win over fences. The Martin Brassil-trained mare has a much more consistent profile than any of her rivals and looks the one horse certain to run her race. Even on the bare form of her two chase outings to date, she looks the one to beat.

Something Abouther unseated on her chasing debut last time but on the balance of her hurdling form she looks the biggest threat. Granted a clear round of jumping, the daughter of Flemensfirth can be involved.

SELECTION: WALK WITH PAUL

Mister Policeman can repay connections’ decision to skip the Cheltenham Festival by taking this decent prize. A lightly-raced six-year-old, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding has the potential to develop into a smart chaser in the coming years. Given his progress since arriving from France, it would be somewhat disappointing if he wasn’t good enough here.

Lucid Dreams is a tough, honest front-runner who won’t make it easy for the selection. John Ryan’s gelding has less scope for improvement at the age of nine but on his best form he is a very smart horse.

SELECTION: MISTER POLICEMAN

3.05 Well Done To Our Irish Cheltenham Winners Handicap Chase 2m 4f 74y

Pana To Milan, a winner of her last two starts at this venue, can complete the hat-trick. Trainer Mick Winters doesn’t have the numbers of old but in this mare, he has shown that given the right horse he can still get the job done. Having won over two miles, six furlongs on her penultimate start, before dropping back to two miles last time, this intermediate trip should prove ideal.

Mick Charlie boasts a very similar profile, also on a hat-trick, having won over different trips on his two most recent starts. Given the fact that he is still rated 10lb below his hurdles mark, the 12-year-old must be a real danger in this company.

3.40 Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle 1m 7f 202y

Not too many nine-year-olds win maiden hurdles but the Tim Doyle-trained gelding can buck that trend. Still relatively lightly raced despite his advancing years, the son of Ask shaped well when runner-up at this track earlier in the month.

The form of his previous second at Clonmel received a real boost in mid-week with the winner running a huge race at Cheltenham.

Ballycallan King was well behind Answering when they met last time but didn’t jump that well. On overall form, he still looks the most likely to thrown down a challenge to the locally trained runner.

4.15 End Of The Season Hurdle 2m 6f 193y

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since Summerville Boy won the 2018 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle but the 12-year-old remains very much a force in this company. Runner-up in the Grade 2 Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park in January, he had run gallantly under a big weight when also finishing second in a listed hurdle at Navan prior to that.

Western Walk is something of a dark horse, having easily landed both starts for trainer Jonathan Sweeney last season. The seven-year-old has more scope for improvement than most in this race, although he does take a significant step up in class on this occasion.

SELECTION: SUMMERVILLE BOY

Next Best: Western Walk

4.50 Leugh Handicap Hurdle 2m 6f 193y

Solly Attwell, a fast finishing runner-up at Fairyhouse last time can open his account. The Cian Collins-trained six-year-old should appreciate a stamina test having been placed on four of his six runs in point-to-points.

Having had the benefit of a first run in handicap company at the Co Meath track last month, he should be all the sharper now.

Although possibly not as good over flights as he is over fences, the Charles Byrnes-trained Temptationinmilan catches the eye off a mark of 100. His wins have come on better ground but the eight-year-old has been placed a few times when the mud has been flying.

SELECTION: SOLLY ATTWELL

Colcannon would be a popular winner here, having been disqualified at Punchestown last month after his inexperienced rider weighed in a fraction over the limit.

On that occasion, the Noel Meade-trained gelding put up an impressive performance in stretching clear of his rivals to ‘win’ by nine lengths. Without a penalty here, the four-year-old can record a first success.

Lady Of The Locke is an interesting contender for the Charles Byrnes yard. A half-sister to a smart listed performer on the flat, the Churchill filly could be a decent prospect if having the stamina for such a test.

SELECTION: COLCANNON
