IT was no surprise to see this posting on Tullyraine Equine Clinic’s Facebook page on Monday under a lovely photograph of the deceased 1995 Budweiser Irish Derby winner: “The influence of Winged Love continues! He’s still producing the winners. At the Dublin Racing Festival he was the broodmare sire of Grade 1 and Grade 2 winners in Notebook and Darling Daughter. His successor CONDUIT is waiting in the wings with a lovely batch of 3 year olds.”

While both Leopardstown winners carried the colours of Gigginstown House Stud, they have different trainers. The German-bred Notebook (by Samum) was one of 20 runners, and two winners, both Grade 1, over the weekend for Waterford-based Henry de Bromhead and stable jockey Rachael Blackmore.
