WEST Clare has gathered its fair share of international headlines and priceless publicity recently between the visit by US President Donald Trump to Doonbeg and Lahinch hosting the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open last weekend.

For showing fans though, West Clare Horse Show on the outskirts of Kilrush, was the port of call last Saturday. It was a typically busy 24 hours for show secretary Bridgette Coghlan and a ‘small but mighty’ committee, from setting up the show field the previous evening to the results of the three-year-old loose
jumping competition on Saturday evening.
