Willie Mullins will saddle six of the 23 runners in Saturday's Scottish National at Ayr. One leading bookmaker is offering odds of just 4/6 that Mullins will train the winner.

The Irish trainer has declared a total of 18 horses to run at the valuable fixture as he bids to catch Dan Skelton at the top of the British jumps trainers' championship. The season ends on Saturday, April 26th at Sandown.

Mullins sealed last year's champion trainer title when MacDermott won the Scottish National and the same horse head the trainer's sextet declared for the 2025 edition on Saturday.

The stable's other five runners are Olympic Man, Captain Cody, Chosen Witness, Spanish Harlem and Klarc Kent. Last year Mullins saddled the four of the first six home.

Chosen Witness is the clear favourite for Saturday's race, which has a first prize of more than £112,000. Sean O'Keeffe has been declared to ride Chosen Witness. As of 11.20am the stable's number one jockey Paul Townend had not been declared to ride any of the Mullins runners. It has been reported that he is recovering from injury.

Skelton, who leads Mullins by approximately £120,000, has just two runners in the race - Sail Away and Snipe - but both are 50/1 outsiders.

One major bookmaker makes Mullins a 1/4 shot to retain the British trainers' title. Skelton is 11/4.
