PINHOOKERS who cashed in at this week’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 will be getting stuck into the catalogue for the Tattersalls December Foal Sale which was published online yesterday.
There are just over 1,000 flat-bred foals engaged and they are headed by a Frankel full-sister to classic winner Chaldean, who himself was sold at this sale for 550,000gns four years ago by Whitsbury Manor Stud.
The five-day sale starts on Tuesday, November 26th with a viewing day on Thursday, November 28th.
The catalogue features own and half-brothers and sisters to 129 group and listed winners including six Group 1 winners.
There are also 107 foals out of group and listed-winning mares catalogued including a pair of Frankel colts, two of seven by the great sire in the catalogue. They include the colt out of the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf and Prix Jean Romanet winner Audarya who will be consigned by Genesis Green Stud, whilst Bearstone Stud consign the second foal out of the triple Group 1 winner Glass Slippers, whose victories included the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp and the Flying Five Stakes.
Other fillies who are siblings to Group 1 winners include the Wootton Bassett half-sister to the Dubai Turf winner Facteur Cheval and the Oasis Dream half-sister to the Haydock Sprint Cup winner Regional, who will be consigned by McCracken Farms and Old Buckenham Stud respectively.
They will be joined by the Spencer Sales-consigned Pinatubo half-sister to the Group 1 Premio Lydia Tesio winner Sortilege, who is also a three-parts sister to the dam of this season’s Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris winner Sosie.
The catalogue also features a State Of Rest half-brother to the Grade 1 Japanese Derby winner Deep Brillante who will be consigned by AK Thoroughbreds, and the Sea The Stars three-parts brother to the German Derby winner Fantastic Moon who will be consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment.
Europe’s premier foal sale features an impressive 262 lots by the current top 25 active British and Irish-based sires, including Blue Point, Camelot, Churchill, Dark Angel, Frankel, Gleneagles, Havana Grey, Invincible Spirit, Kingman, Kodiac, Lope De Vega, Mehmas, Nathaniel, New Bay, Night Of Thunder, No Nay Never, Sea The Stars, Showcasing, Starspangledbanner, Too Darn Hot, Wootton Bassett,
As ever, first crop sires feature prominently with a total of 14 represented including classic and Group 1 winners Baaeed, Bayside Boy, Blackbeard, Golden Pal, Minzaal, Naval Crown, Perfect Power, Sealiway, State Of Rest, Stradivarius and Torquator Tasso.
There is also significant representation from stallions who have made a favourable impression with their first crop of runners in 2024, including Earthlight, Hello Youmzain, Mohaather, Kameko, Pinatubo, Sands Of Mali, Sergei Prokofiev and Without Parole.
The largest consignment is the team of 80 foals coming from Tom Blain’s Barton Stud followed by the 43 catalogued from The Castlebridge Consignment. Jamie Railton and Mickley Stud have consignments of 39 and 38 respectively whilst the National Stud in Newmarket, who sold Irish Oaks winner You Got Me at this sale in 2022, have a consignment of 30.
