THREE horses owned by the late Sir Robert Ogden topped Wednesday’s Tattersalls Online Sale.
The draft was consigned on behalf of Sir Robert’s estate by Anthony Ross’ Johnstown Stud in Malton, Yorkshire.
Top price of 26,000gns was paid for Hamlet, a No Nay Never two-year-old gelding out of the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora placed Galileo mare Pandora, herself an own-sister to the listed-placed pair of Allegio and Isabella.
Trainer John Quinn signed for the horse on behalf of Mount Racing and commented: “He has a lovely pedigree and is a nice, scopey individual. I was able to visit where he’s been prepped and was very pleased when I saw him move.”
Alliance Bloodstock and Orbital Racing were the successful purchasers of Tudor at 24,000gns. Officially rated 77, the three-year-old Zoffany colt is out of the Galileo mare Tiger Lilly, an own-sister to Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup placed Robin Hood.
Alliance Bloodstock’s Eimear Donnelly said: “Tudor has been purchased for a new syndicate, Orbital Racing. He’s a lovely horse. Rated 77, he will suit what we are looking for. A trainer has yet to be decided.”
Valley Of Kings, a full-brother to Tudor, also sold for 24,000gns, with Fernham Farm coming out on top for the two-year-old.
Cillian McConnell, son of trainer John, spent 7,000gns on a No Nay Never colt from the Ogden dispersal.
There were a few interesting Irish-consigned lots in the sale. Owner Chris Jones sold his 10-year-old chaser Paloma Blue for 18,000gns to British trainer Kayley Woollacott.
Peter Fahey sold China Princess, a lowly rated handicap hurdler, for 8,500gns to the Racehorse Ownership Club.
Joseph O’Brien also sold two horses: River Derwent for 3,000gns and Monte Lauro for 1,000gns.
